If an Apple Watch screen is cracked, I first want to know whether the glass is only chipped or the picture, touch response or case has changed too. Don’t keep pressing the crack to test it. Tell us the exact Watch series, case size, what happened and what still works. That gives us a useful starting point without guessing the repair from one photo.
Take the watch off and stop charging it if the glass is sharp, the screen is lifting, the case is bent, the watch is unusually hot or swollen, or liquid entered after the damage. Don’t press the screen closed. Keep it away from heat and call a store for a safe next step.
A crack and a failed display are not the same symptom
The outer surface can crack while the picture and touch still respond, or the damage can include dark areas, colored lines, flicker, missed touches or a screen that separates from the case. Those details change what needs to be evaluated. They do not confirm a part, price or repair time by themselves.
Avoid pressing, twisting or repeatedly tapping damaged glass. Do not use household glue or liquid cleaner around the crack. A cover may reduce contact with loose glass during careful transport, but it does not restore the structure or water resistance of the watch.
Keep a damaged watch out of water
Apple says Apple Watch is water resistant, not waterproof, and that water resistance is not permanent. Drops and other impacts can affect it. After a crack or hard impact, I would keep the watch out of a pool, shower and sink until the damage is evaluated.
Water Lock does not seal broken glass or a separated screen. If liquid has already reached the damaged area, stop testing and mention the exposure before any repair decision.
Identify the exact Apple Watch before asking for parts
Series, case size, case material and GPS or cellular version can matter. Apple’s identification page explains how to find the model number in the Watch app on the paired iPhone. If the screen still works, you can also record the model details before service.
A useful request is: ‘My Apple Watch is [series or model], [case size]. The glass cracked after [what happened]. The picture [works or does not], touch [works or does not], and the screen [is or is not] lifting.’ Add any heat, swelling, liquid exposure or earlier repair.

Protect the data and account before service
If the watch and paired iPhone are safe and working, review Apple’s service-preparation steps before unpairing or erasing anything. Apple says unpairing with the paired iPhone is the service path that creates a current Watch backup. Erasing without the iPhone does not create one.
Keep your Apple Account password, watch passcode and verification codes out of the quote form. Bring the paired iPhone only if the store asks for it, and remain present if you need to enter an account password or passcode.
