If your Galaxy Z Flip screen starts flashing or a bright line appears across the middle, don’t press on it to make it go away. I would start by protecting the phone and checking whether your files are backed up. A description helps us prepare, but it does not tell us which part needs replacing. Here’s what to do before you bring it in.

Safety first

Stop using and charging the phone if it is unusually hot, swollen, wet or coming apart. Don’t press a lifting screen down or force a damaged hinge. Call the store for the next step. If the display is flashing intensely, stop looking at it and skip the on-screen checks.

Tell us which screen is affected

A Z Flip has an outside cover screen and a folding inside screen. Tell us whether one or both are affected. Is there a steady white line, brief flickering, a dark patch or missing touch response? Also tell us if it started after a drop, liquid exposure, an update or earlier repair work.

If you already noticed that the picture changes when the phone moves, mention it. Don’t keep opening and closing it to demonstrate the problem. We can check it here. Bring the exact model, such as Z Flip 6, because foldable parts and repair options are model-specific.

Leave the inside screen and its film alone

Samsung’s foldable-care guidance warns against pressing the main screen with a fingernail or tool and against removing its protective film. Don’t peel a bubbling film, push on the crease or add another protector as a test. Keep coins, keys and other objects away from the folding surfaces.

A film problem and a display problem are not interchangeable diagnoses. I can’t tell you that replacing the film will fix a bright line. If there is visible damage or the hinge resists normal movement, stop trying home fixes and arrange an inspection.

Only try software checks if the phone is safe to use

For an undamaged phone with mild flickering and a usable screen, Samsung suggests checking in Safe mode. Open the power menu with the Side and Volume Down buttons, touch and hold Power off, then choose Safe mode. If the flicker stops, a downloaded app may be involved. If it continues, get the phone inspected instead of guessing a part.

Samsung also suggests turning off Adaptive brightness under Settings, then Display, when brightness changes are involved. Note what changes. These checks are not a reason to keep using a damaged folding display, and they do not prove that a persistent white line is a software fault.

Back up first; Maintenance mode is a separate step

If you can safely unlock and use the phone, make a backup and check that the files you need are actually included. Samsung offers several backup methods, including Smart Switch and cloud options. Use the official instructions linked below for the method you choose. Don’t assume everything is saved just because you signed into an account.

On a supported Galaxy phone, Maintenance mode hides your personal information during service by creating a separate account. It is not a replacement for a backup. Samsung still advises backing up before repair because data could be lost. If the screen won’t let you complete either step, tell us before any work starts.

Keep your account passwords and security codes out of the quote form. If your only copy of important files is on this phone, say that clearly. Ask about data-recovery evaluation before agreeing to an erase or a repair that could affect the files.

Call with the model before making the trip

For Davie, call (954) 669-9588. Tell us the model, which screen is affected, whether touch still works and whether the files are backed up. We’ll explain the next step and check the current options. I won’t promise a price, a part or a same-day repair from the symptom alone.

You can also contact Tamarac or the Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop using the direct store links on this page. If you have Samsung warranty or device-protection coverage, check its terms before authorizing work. Bring only a device you own or have permission to have serviced.

Common questions

Does a white line mean my Z Flip needs a new screen?

It needs an inspection before a part is recommended. Describe the line, touch response and any damage. A message alone cannot establish the fault or the available repair.

Should I remove the inside screen protector?

No. Samsung’s foldable-care guidance advises against removing the protective film yourself. Ask for an inspection if it is lifting or damaged.

Will Maintenance mode back up my photos?

Maintenance mode protects access to personal information during service; it does not replace making and checking a backup. Use Samsung’s backup guidance separately.

Can I get a Z Flip repair quote before visiting?

Call the chosen store with the exact model and symptoms. Parts, price and timing depend on the model, condition and inspection; a repair or successful data recovery cannot be guaranteed in advance.
