Don’t peel, press or glue the broken glass
Loose back glass can be sharp. Don’t pick at it, press a lifting panel down or try to seal it with glue. Avoid heat, blades and do-it-yourself glass removal. If the phone is cool, dry, flat and otherwise stable, a fitted case may help contain small loose pieces while you arrange service. That is only temporary protection. It does not make the phone waterproof or confirm that it is safe internally.
Treat water resistance as compromised
Apple says splash, water and dust resistance are not permanent and can decrease with normal wear. A hard impact, cracked back or earlier disassembly gives me another reason not to trust the seal. Keep the phone away from water, steam and high humidity until it can be inspected.
If it got wet, don’t connect a cable until it is completely dry. Don’t use a hair dryer, compressed air or put anything into the connector. Tell us about the liquid exposure even if the phone still turns on.
Back up before repair when the phone is safe
If the iPhone is stable and you can use it normally, make a current backup and check that the photos, messages or other files you need are included. Apple recommends backing up before service. If the phone is not safe to charge or use, stop and tell us that your data is the priority.

Tell us exactly what was damaged
Get the exact model from Settings, the original box or your Apple account if possible. Tell us whether the damage is only on the rear glass or also reaches the camera lens, camera ring, frame, screen or buttons. Also check whether wireless charging or MagSafe changed after the impact, but don’t keep testing if the phone heats up.
