If your iPhone vibrates but the screen stays black, tell me both facts. That is a more useful starting point than saying the phone is completely dead. It still does not prove that a screen replacement will fix it. We need the model, what happened before the problem and what the phone does now.
Stop using or charging a wet, swollen, unusually hot or physically separating phone. Do not press damaged glass, force a cable into the port or keep charging a device with suspected liquid damage. Ask the store about safe handling.
Describe the signs of life without guessing the part
Tell us whether you feel vibration when connecting a charger, hear notifications or notice incoming calls. Record what you already observed; you do not need to keep triggering the symptom. A vibration is useful evidence, but it does not establish that the battery is charging normally or that only the display is affected.
Include a recent drop, liquid exposure, previous repair or software update. Say whether there are visible cracks and whether the picture disappeared suddenly or became intermittent first. Do not open the phone to check a connector.
A restart is different from a reset
For a dry, otherwise safe iPhone with Face ID, Apple describes a force restart: quickly press and release Volume Up, then Volume Down, and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears. Older models use different combinations; use the linked Apple instructions for your model.
If the screen remains black, stop repeating the procedure and arrange evaluation. Do not move on to a factory reset or a computer Restore command just because the restart did not help. Those are different actions. Tell us if your photos or files are the priority before any data-affecting work.
Do not troubleshoot by tapping a screen you cannot see
Avoid guessing at passcode positions or trying to approve prompts blindly. If you cannot see what a computer or phone is asking, stop and describe that limitation. Do not send your passcode, Apple Account password or verification codes through a quote form.
If you already have a backup, note where it is and when it last completed. If you are unsure, say so. Our separate backup and iCloud-photo guides explain ways to check existing copies without treating a black screen as permission to erase the phone.
Mention charging or liquid symptoms separately
A black screen together with a damaged charging port is more than one reported symptom. Tell us if charging stopped after the same drop, whether the cable feels loose, and whether liquid exposure is suspected. Do not buy a screen or port based on the description alone.
Apple warns against charging through a wet connector and against using heat, compressed air, rice or inserted objects to dry it. If liquid exposure is part of the history, explain that before trying more charging tests.
Send a clear request and agree on the next step
A useful request is: “My iPhone is [model]. The screen is black, but I notice [vibration or sound]. It started after [what happened]. I do or do not have a recent backup. Please evaluate it before replacing parts.” Add any cracks, charging fault or suspected liquid exposure.
Ask what the inspection found, what the estimate includes and whether any proposed work can affect your data. A symptom alone cannot confirm repairability, parts availability, price or timing.

Common questions
Does vibration prove that my iPhone only needs a new screen?
No. It is a useful observation for the evaluation, not a confirmed diagnosis. Describe the vibration, black screen and any damage or charging symptoms together.
Should I restore the iPhone before requesting a quote?
Do not choose Restore just to prepare a black-screen phone for a quote. Explain your backup status and agree on any data-affecting work first.
