If your Apple Watch screen looks scratched, I would leave the polishing kit alone. First, work out what you are looking at and whether anything besides the appearance has changed. A mark on a protector, a surface scratch and a cracked display need different conversations. A photo can help start that conversation, but it cannot confirm the depth or repair needed.
Stop wearing or charging a Watch with cracked or loose glass, a lifting screen, unusual heat or visible liquid intrusion. Do not press the display down, peel at a damaged surface or open the Watch. Describe these symptoms before bringing it in.
Clean gently; do not try to grind a scratch away
Apple advises against abrasive polishing or buffing. Its cleaning guidance also rules out harsh cleaners, compressed air and external heat. I would not use toothpaste, a polishing compound or a powered buffer to experiment on a Watch screen.
If the Watch is intact and safe to handle, switch it off and take it off its charger. Use a soft, nonabrasive, lint-free cloth to remove surface smudges. Apple allows a cloth lightly dampened with fresh water when needed. If you suspect cracks or liquid damage, keep it dry and get handling advice instead of washing it.
Cleaning removes dirt; it does not establish that a scratch is gone or that the glass is undamaged. Stop if you find a sharp edge, a split or separation.
Tell us where the mark is and what still works
If you already have a screen protector, mention that in the request. A damaged protector can complicate the view of the surface underneath. Do not pry at it to prove which layer is marked when the screen may be cracked.
I would describe the appearance and the functions separately: is the mark visible only at an angle, or does it block the picture? Does touch respond normally? Are there lines, dark areas or flickering? Is the screen sitting flush with the case? A working picture alone does not settle the condition of the glass.
- Say when you first noticed the marks and whether there was a drop or scrape.
- Mention any previous screen repair or liquid exposure.
- If safe, take a clear photo without pressing on the screen. Keep private notifications out of it.
Check the model instead of guessing the Series
On the paired iPhone, open the Watch app, choose My Watch, then General and About. Tap the Model Number field to change the part number beginning with M into the model number beginning with A. Match that number with Apple’s identification page linked below.
Send the model number and case size if you know them. “Maybe a Series 3” is useful as a starting point, but I would confirm the model before discussing a specific repair option. Do not put account passwords, passcodes or verification codes in a quote request.
Ask what the proposed work will actually address
For a cosmetic concern, say plainly that the appearance is the reason you are asking. If touch or the image also fails, include that too. We need to evaluate the Watch before saying whether work is appropriate, which parts would be involved or whether the result would meet your goal.
Ask for the repair scope, total estimate, parts availability and any limitations before approving work. Do not assume an advertised screen service means scratches can be polished out, that every older model can be repaired, or that a particular cosmetic result is guaranteed.
For an older Watch, compare the confirmed repair option with your needs and replacement alternatives. It is reasonable to decide against work after understanding the options. The useful first step is an evaluation, not an improvised abrasive treatment.

Common questions
Can I polish scratches out of an Apple Watch screen?
I do not recommend trying abrasive polish. Apple advises against abrasive polishing or buffing. Have the surface and exact model evaluated before deciding whether any repair makes sense.
Does a deep scratch automatically mean I need a new display?
No repair scope can be confirmed from that description alone. The evaluation needs to distinguish the visible surface damage, any protector and the condition of the display and touch functions.
What should I send for an Apple Watch evaluation?
Send the exact model if known, case size, a description of the marks, any drop or liquid history, and whether touch and the image still work. Mention a lifting screen, cracks or unusual heat first.
