If people cannot hear you through your Apple Watch, I want to know exactly where it happens before anyone recommends a part. A microphone complaint and a quiet speaker are different problems. And if someone has already reported damaged mesh, that needs an evaluation—not more poking or cleaning at home.
Stop wearing or charging a watch with unusual heat, a lifting screen, sharp glass or suspected battery damage. Keep a physically damaged watch away from water. Do not open the case, peel mesh or push anything into its openings.
Describe what fails, not just ‘the sound’
Tell us whether the other person cannot hear your voice, whether you cannot hear them, or both. Note whether it happens during calls, Siri or dictation, and whether it is constant or intermittent. If you have already noticed a difference with headphones connected, mention that too.
You do not need to make repeated calls to prove the problem. Write down what you already know, when it started, and whether there was a drop, liquid exposure or earlier repair. These details give an evaluation a better starting point; they do not identify a failed component by themselves.
Keep the first checks gentle
Apple’s audio guide recommends checking for obstruction, updating the watch and paired iPhone, and restarting the watch. For an otherwise intact, stable watch, look for anything covering an opening without putting a tool inside. Follow Apple’s linked instructions for your model rather than guessing which opening is the microphone.
Apple warns against heat, compressed air, sprays and sharp objects in the microphone or speaker ports. Its cleaning guide starts with the watch switched off and removed from the charger, using a nonabrasive, lint-free cloth. I would not turn a suspected torn-mesh problem into a home cleaning experiment.
Suspected mesh damage changes the conversation
If you have an inspection report, keep it. Tell us the exact wording and which model it covers. A report or clear existing photo can help explain the concern, but it is not a promise that a separate microphone or mesh replacement is available.
Do not rinse a watch with suspected physical damage, remove the mesh, add glue or try to seal the opening yourself. Ask the repair provider to explain what was found and what work is actually possible for that watch. A cleaning, a component repair and a larger assembly replacement are different proposals; do not assume they are interchangeable.
Ask what the estimate includes
I would get the scope in writing before comparing prices. A lower number is not a useful comparison if one estimate is for diagnosis and another is for a different repair.
- What fault has been confirmed, and what still needs testing?
- Is the proposed work a cleaning, a component repair or an assembly replacement?
- Are parts and this repair option available for my exact model?
- What diagnostic charge applies if the proposed repair cannot be done?
- What audio functions will be checked afterward, and what written coverage applies?
- What limits should I follow around water after the work? Do not assume the watch will be waterproof.
Protect the data before any reset
Do not erase or unpair merely to request a quote. Tell us whether the paired iPhone is available and whether you know your backup status. Read our Apple Watch backup guide below before agreeing to a step that changes pairing or data.
Keep passwords, passcodes and verification codes out of the request. If a report or photo is needed, ask how to share it privately and leave out account details. We need the device information and symptom, not your private messages.
Send the model and question to your store
Use our Apple Watch service page or the store links below. Include the series or generation, case size, GPS or cellular version if known, and the symptom. Ask us to confirm whether an evaluation and the requested repair option are available before making a trip or arranging shipping. We cannot confirm a microphone-only repair, price or turnaround from a message alone.
Davie is open daily 10 AM–8 PM. Tamarac is open daily 9 AM–9 PM. Fort Lauderdale / Swap Shop is closed Monday and Tuesday; its hours are Wednesday–Friday 9 AM–5 PM and Saturday–Sunday 8:30 AM–5:30 PM. On closed days, request a quote online and plan for the next opening.

Common questions
Does a microphone complaint prove the microphone needs replacing?
No. Record when and where the problem occurs and whether anything is physically damaged. An evaluation is needed before recommending a component.
Can I remove damaged mesh to improve the sound?
Do not peel, puncture or remove it. Keep a physically damaged watch away from water and have the condition evaluated before approving work.
Can PRG promise a microphone-only repair for my watch?
No repair option is confirmed by this guide. Ask about your exact model and condition so availability, repairability, cost and timing can be evaluated first.
